Samphire Hoe Tuesday 03-08-21

A trip around the Hoe today seeing a great diversity of flora and fauna which just goes to show what can be done in such a small amount of time with a relatively small area of new land compared to the size of most nature reserves. Huge butterfly numbers of marbled Whites, large whites, meadow browns, red admirals, painted lady and gatekeepers. i also saw 1 clouded yellow, 1 wall brown and my first dingy skipper in fact 2 of them. Good numbers of bumblebees at least 30 Redtail, 24 Bufftail and 8 Whitetails. 3 Migrant Hawkers and 13 Common Darters. i also found my first Bee Beetle on the ground at the top of the slope down to the promenade and one also buzzing around my head by the gate in the lower carpark to the lower track. Notable birds were 3 Rock pipit, pr Raven, pr Kestrel, 4 adult Stonechat inc one colour ringed male (white over lilac) in the 'compound' and 7 juveniles, Little Egret on the rocks at the Eastern end, 1 hobby flying through, family of 5 Linnet and also 6 Goldfinch but no Black redstart or Peregrine as seen last week.
